BrightSmile Dental reception area

About the practice

A family-owned Scottsdale practice — since 2012.

Dr. Sarah Patel founded BrightSmile after twelve years working in dental offices that felt cold, transactional, and overpacked. The mission: build the office she'd want to take her own three kids to.

Our story

A dental office that explains things first.

“I built BrightSmile because every parent I knew dreaded their kid’s dental visit. They shouldn’t have to. Neither should you.”
— Dr. Sarah Patel

Dr. Sarah Patel grew up in Scottsdale and went to ASU for undergrad, then to dental school in Phoenix. She practiced for twelve years at two large dental groups before opening BrightSmile in 2012, with a list of things she’d never do in her own office: rush a cleaning, surprise a patient with an unexpected charge, or treat a five-year-old’s first visit like an assembly line.

BrightSmile opened on Scottsdale Road with one chair, one hygienist, and one rule: nothing happens in a patient’s mouth before the patient understands exactly what’s about to happen and what it costs. The rule is still intact. The office is bigger — now four chairs, four hygienists, three dentists, and two front-desk staff — but the rule is the same.

Twelve years later BrightSmile has seen more than 12,400 Scottsdale and Phoenix-area patients, holds a 4.9-star rating across 980+ Google reviews, and has been Invisalign Diamond Plus Provider for the last four years. The office is family-owned, family-run, and still does not sell its appointment book to corporate.

We accept most PPO insurance, offer an in-house membership plan for uninsured patients, and answer the phone ourselves — if you call, you’ll talk to a person before the second ring. Welcome.

How we work

Six commitments we don’t bend on.

The things every BrightSmile patient gets, every visit, regardless of treatment or insurance status.

Explain before treat

Nothing happens in your mouth until you understand exactly what we're about to do, why, and what it costs. Always.

Itemized estimates, every time

You leave the consultation with a printed, itemized treatment plan and insurance estimate. No surprises at checkout.

Same dentist every visit

You'll see the same dentist each time unless you ask for someone different. No rotating associates, no introductions every visit.

We file your insurance

Our front-office team handles the claim, the back-and-forth, and the appeal if needed. You don't deal with the paperwork.

Saturday hours, real ones

Open 8am-2pm every Saturday, not just first-and-third. Working families shouldn't have to take time off for a cleaning.

Same-day emergencies

Call before noon and we'll see you the same day. We hold morning slots specifically for chipped teeth, lost crowns, and acute pain.

Meet your dentists

The team you'll actually see.

The team that’s actually in the chair with you — not a rotating cast of associates. You’ll see the same dentist every visit unless you ask for someone different.

The visit experience

Built for people who hate dentist offices.

We surveyed 600 patients on what makes dental visits stressful and designed the office around fixing each one. No fluorescent lights. No clipboards in the waiting room. No surprise charges at checkout. Just a calm, transparent visit.

  • Nitrous oxide on request

Laughing gas at no extra cost during cleanings, fillings, or any longer procedure. Wears off in five minutes — you can drive home.

  • Noise-cancel headphones

Bose QC over-ear headphones at every chair. Bring your phone or stream from our library. The drill becomes a distant hum.

  • Netflix on the ceiling

Every chair has a ceiling-mounted screen with Netflix, YouTube, and HBO. Patient picks the show. Time goes faster.

  • Kid play corner

Toys, books, and a small slide so kids stay calm before their visit — and so parents can have their own cleaning without juggling.

★★★★★
I’d avoided the dentist for nine years. Dr. Patel walked me through every step before she touched a tooth. Ended up doing veneers and Invisalign — and I actually look forward to cleanings now.
★★★★★
Took our 4-year-old for her first visit. Dr. Ortega had her giggling in under three minutes. The play corner is genius. We’ll be patients here forever.
★★★★★
Cracked a molar on a Saturday morning. They saw me the same day, took the insurance call themselves, and the crown was done in two visits. No surprise charges.
