What “managed updates” actually means

Every plan includes unlimited managed updates. Here’s what that covers, and what it doesn’t.

On most platforms, a broken site is your problem to solve. The host points at the plugin, the plugin points at the theme, and the answer is to hire a developer. You pay for the diagnosis and then you pay for the fix.

Here, fixing what broke is not billed per incident. It is in your plan, on every tier. What still gets quoted is brand-new work: a new integration, a new template, a redesign, a migration. The lists below are the exact line.

The simple rule: you supply the words and the images, we put them in place: carefully, and consistently with the rest of your site. Changing what is already there is your plan. Creating something new, whether that is new writing, new artwork or new structure, is quoted.

Included, done within your plan’s turnaround time

  • Text and copy changes, when you provide the copy*
  • Image swaps and additions, when you provide the images*
  • CTA button copy and URL changes
  • Section reordering or removal
  • New blog posts published*
  • Service or product description edits, when you provide the wording*
  • Location hours, address, contact info
  • Gallery photo additions, when you provide the photos*
  • Form field adjustments
  • Redirects added or updated
  • Menu and navigation links
  • Footer content updates
  • Keeping your site fast and healthy is part of the service. Speed, Core Web Vitals, hosting and build-output issues are ours to fix and are never billed.
  • Small styling adjustments (a font size, a colour, spacing) applied consistently across your site
  • Adding or removing team members and locations, when you provide the details*
  • Placing content you have written into a page, a section, or a blog post*
  • Adding another section of a type your site already uses, when you provide the content*
  • A logo, if you don’t have one. Our designers create a mark that suits the site and launch with it. Logos don’t go through a revision round, we use our best judgment so your launch isn’t held up. Already have one, or have one made later? Send it and we swap it in.

Requires a separate quote

  • Building a new page template (design from scratch)
  • Custom third-party integrations (Premium includes one, HubSpot, Salesforce, or a generic CRM via Zapier/webhook, see /pricing; additional integrations quoted separately)
  • Site redesigns or major visual overhauls (the Always Fresh anniversary refresh at 24 months is free, included on every plan)
  • Ecommerce or checkout functionality
  • Redesigning or reworking a logo you already have
  • Migrations from another platform
  • Marketing campaign landing pages (outside standard templates)
  • Fixing content-level issues an SEO audit surfaces (schema errors, broken links, thin content, alt tags), use the self-serve fix tools in your dashboard, or ask about a one-off engagement or Campaign add-on
  • Writing new copy from a topic or brief, we place copy you've written, we don't write it for you outside a Campaign add-on
  • Creating original images, graphics or illustrations. Send us the image you want, or pick one from the library, and we place it
  • A page with different navigation, header or footer from the rest of the site is custom design work, quoted separately. Adding or renaming links in the site's own menu stays included.
  • Building a new kind of section or layout that your site does not already use
  • Styling that deliberately differs from the rest of your site, such as one page set apart from the others

How your plan works

No tricks, no surprise price jumps.

1

One flat monthly fee. Annual optional.

You pay one flat monthly price for your plan, that's it. Monthly billing is the default; prepaying the year is optional, never required. Your rate never jumps mid-term, and there are no forced renewals or surprise fees.

2

Free website build included with your commitment.

Every plan launches with a complete website, 6, 10, or 15 pages depending on tier: 3, 7, or 12 pages designed around your business, plus Blog, T&C & Privacy pages styled to match. See how we design it → · See our demo sites →

Build targets: your first draft lands a few days after you complete the questionnaire; most sites go live within a few days to a few weeks,* depending on how quickly you review and send revisions. We start building once you complete your dashboard questionnaire.

Actual timeline varies based on complexity, integrations, assets provided, and client approvals. Capacity is limited.

3

12-month term, then month-to-month.

Your plan starts with a 12-month term (that commitment is the exchange for your free site build), and every plan begins with a 30-day money-back guarantee. After the 12 months, you're month-to-month: cancel anytime with 30 days' notice (we don't prorate partial months). Cancel during the first 12 months and a one-time build fee applies. See Terms for the amount specific to your plan.

4

Always Fresh, a free redesign at your 24-month anniversary.

At your 24-month anniversary, contact us at least 30 days in advance to reserve your build slot. We redesign your site: new visual aesthetic, updated layouts, matched to your plan's page count, at no extra charge. When you redeem, you commit to a new 12-month term at your current rate. You get a brand-new site. We keep a great client. Simple, fair exchange.

FAQ

Questions,
answered.

The detail behind the plan: scope, SEO, and the policies, in plain English.

What exactly counts as a managed update?

Managed updates cover placing content you supply, and adjusting what is already on your site. We swap in the copy, images or posts you send us, add and remove team members and locations, and make small styling changes such as a font size or a colour, applied consistently across your site rather than to one page in isolation. What is not included is creating something new for you: writing copy from scratch, creating original images or artwork, building a new page or a new kind of section, or fixing an issue an SEO/audit tool flags. Those are Campaign work or a separate paid engagement.

What if I'm not sure whether my request is in-scope?

Submit it. We'll tell you within one business day, at no charge.

What SEO is actually built into my plan?

Your pages are set up so Google and AI assistants like ChatGPT and Perplexity understand and recommend your business, plus sitemaps, redirects, and meta editors. It's part of your plan, always on, and never an upsell.

What does the free launch optimization include?

When we build your site, our team optimizes it before it goes live: on-page SEO and AI-readiness, set up page by page. Included with the build, at no extra charge.

What is NOT included, and where does campaign work begin?

Keyword strategy, content production, link building, rank management, and ongoing AI-visibility campaigns (getting your business recommended by ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity) are ongoing campaign work. They're sold separately by our strategy team and scoped to your goals. They are not part of the monthly plan.

What does the Fair Use Policy cover?

What “unlimited” means in practice: storage thresholds, and what triggers a plan conversation. The full policy is at /fair-use.

What does the Service Level Agreement cover?

Formal turnaround targets, blocker response targets, a 99.9% uptime target on Growth and Premium, and service credit terms. Essentials is best-effort with no contractual uptime commitment. The full agreement is at /sla.

What does the AI Credit Schedule cover?

Every action that costs AI credits, the per-action cost, and how monthly allowances reset. The full schedule is at /ai-credit-schedule.
